CNN Type 1 Video
The CNN site has a short video (1:36 minutes) about four famous type 1 PWDs: Halley Berry, Elliot Yamin, Adam Morrison and Gary Hall. Go to the CNN video site, in the Search Videos box enter 'Living with Diabetes'. It will be the only one returned from the search. Click and view.
(Sorry for the hassle on this, due to the CNN video viewer I couldn't insert a direct link).

Personally, I'd like to vote Halle off the D-Island, since she's been so wishy washy about what type she has and how she treats it :)
I wasn't aware of this kassie. I don't really follow the starlette world much... just happened across this video while checking the news.
I did see Mary Tyler Moore on TV earlier today for JDRF. She did not look good to me. I guess she's approaching 70 and has had D ~40 years. I can't find much on her Dx date.
I agree with Kassie. She goes back and forth. Also, I read an interview where she stated that she had to check her sugar 3 times a day. What?!? Nice role model for the kids with D.(not)
I agree on the Halle Berry thing. I also saw an article that said she has type 1, but got off insulin by following a strict diet and taking vitamins- huh?
Halle Berry... I can't read about her without laughing. At first, I thought she was Type 1. Then I read about how she wasn't on insulin due to her diet and exercise regimen.
"Hmmmmm... sounds like some kind of magic type 1 diabetes to me."
Then I read about how she had a seizure on the set of a television show a number of years ago. Then I read that she had type 2 diabetes. Then I read something else about her type 1 diagnosis. Then I came across an article about how she doesn't expect to bear children as a result of medical issues. Then I read a made-up article about how she shots lasers from her eardrums and has the ability to talk to sqirrels on Sundays.
... Then I took a nap, because reading about Halle Berry makes my head spin.
:)
Lol Kerri. Yeah, I read an article saying how she is the ideal example that you don't have to be overweight to get type 2, and how she thinks that her childhood chubbiness put her at first for diabetes. And she is in an ad compaign urging people to know their diabetes risk.
Is it just me or does Halle sometimes look haggard? Like someone running on high blood sugars...anyway, I agree she's a horrible role model and definitely poses a risk to her unborn child.
Mary Tyler Moore was diagnosed in 1969 at age 33.
That puts her at more than 50 years now.
I'll never catch up but I'm at 30 years soon :-).
